Social Entrepreneurship Division

At AE&C (ICE-Africa) we believe that the backbones of any economy are the SMEs. We provide a wide range of services to individuals in SSA with innovative solutions to society’s most pressing social problems. We currently work with local governments, social entrepreneurs in villages and communities across Africa. Our division’s main focus is to reduce the level of African constraints through technology and social innovation in conjunction with development programs from all over the Globe. As many African countries are still going through transformations into more developed places ICE-Africa plays a role in increasing the accessibility of development initiatives to all Africans. We are dedicated to building new skills and embed social entrepreneurial skills within the typical African society. It has special attention directed to creating a vibrant African society with sustainable development strategies for all.

We utilize a holistic approach to tackle the problems of social entrepreneurship in Africa and Europe. Rather than leaving societal needs to the government or business sectors, we work with individuals and communities to seek solutions and solve problems by changing the system, spreading the solution and persuading the entire societies to move in different directions. Our theory of change is based on the philosophy that sustainable development is achieved through a combination of training and resource provision together. Thus, we do not only tell beneficiaries what to do or what is good, but actually provide them with the tools to do it, start doing it with them, and gradually build their knowledge and understanding through that process. Also, our theory of change shifts from a ‘service provision module’ where beneficiaries are given aid for free without the need to account for it to the ‘capacity building model’, where development is done through social entrepreneurship, and where aid or support are provided based on financial viability and accountability. Therefore, this project links the need to improve the conditions of a deprived area to providing resources, and making the recipients accountable for the resources they receive. This theory has proved successful in similar development projects.
