The Green Broom Project

Narrative Description of Project:

In most developing countries, road sweepers use inappropriate brooms made from trees which breaks very easily and is not an earth saving method. Consequently, the cleaning process is inefficient and costly. Waste management companies end up spending huge investments on the purchase of brooms weekly.

“The Green Broom” project is aimed at designing a broom that is persistent and can be produced from recycled plastics. Low density polyethylene serves as a basis for the brush and high density polyethylene as a basis of the handle. Both materials can be found in abundance in urban waste in Africa.
